Community Project Will Pay for Itself in 2 Years
The Reserve of Montgomery community hired LUX Landscape Lighting to convert their 56 gas street lamps to energy-efficient LED. This project has a good ROI for the community, paying for itself in energy and maintenance savings over two years.
5 Benefits of Low Voltage LED Street Lamps
LED street lamps are superior to gas street lamps in practically every way.
- Save money: These LED street lamps are much less expensive to run and maintain. Gas lights run 24/7, while LED lights come on at dusk. Repairs for gas lights are expensive, as they require significant safety measures
- Good for the environment: gas street lamps contribute to carbon emissions
- Safer: Natural gas has inherent risks. In the past at this community, gas lights have caught fire and spread to overhanging tree branches
- Better illumination: At night, the light is steadier and clearer
- Same look: During the day, these LED street lamps offer the same charm and appeal as gas lamps
Installation of LED Street Lamps

Before and After: Gas vs. LED
Manufacturers have developed replacement fixtures that are attractive and give off beautiful, clear light. Check out our before and after pictures.
The original gas fixture is on the left, and the replacement LED fixture on the right. As you can see, the LED fixture mostly preserves the appearance of the original. During the day, it’s hard to tell any difference:

New LED streetlight
At night, though, the light quality is better.
