Right across the street from Rothenberg School, something special is taking root. A community garden program — funded entirely through private donations — is giving students a hands-on classroom where they learn science and math through gardening, while also discovering the plants and wildlife that make a garden thrive.
This program couldn’t grow without help from generous local businesses and organizations.
- LUX Landscape Lighting recently spent a volunteer day building six planter beds for flowers and vegetables
- MadTree Brewing pitched in with six more beds of their own
- The Cincinnati Zoo donated 20 yards of garden soil to get everything growing strong
- Most recently, TriState Water Works, a local lawn sprinkler company, donated $2,000 to support the program
The team behind this project is always on the lookout for generous people and foundations willing to donate their time, talent, or treasure to help it grow.
The impact goes beyond the garden beds, too. The program also reaches into the local community with cooking classes and nutrition education for parents, helping families build healthier habits together.
